FAQ about Waxing
This is my first time getting my eyebrows waxed. Will it hurt?
- For your first time, redness and some soreness is expected. At Linda Marie’s we use a sensitive line wax which is softer on follicles and helps eliminate redness. Your experienced esthetician will also apply a skin soother to help calm the skin and subdue redness.
- Does waxing permanently eliminate hair?
- No waxing is not a permanent way to remove unwanted hair. Please check out our electrolysis or laser hair removal for permanent methods.
- How long does waxing last for?
- Waxing lasts three to six weeks, depending on each individual’s hair growth cycle. The more often you come in to get waxed the longer you will be able to wait between appointments before hair is visible again. This has to do with the alignment of the hair growth cycle within each of your follicles.
- What is the difference between Waxing and Threading?
- Waxing and threading both remove unwanted hair from the follicle, and therefore have similar timelines of longevity. Waxing is an efficient and quick way to remove hair, while threading tends to take a bit longer as it is highly dependent upon the skill of the worker. Waxing uses wax to adhere to the hair which is then removed in a quick pull. Threading uses string to trap the hair, which is then pulled.
- Waxing vs Shaving
- Shaving removes hair at the top epidermal layer of the skin, right above the hair follicle. Waxing removes hair from its root found in the hair follicle. Therefore the root of the hair is still intact during shaving and will grow back faster than waxing. Shaving also creates a clean cut in the hair, which is why it will feel prickly when growing back in.
- What is a Bikini Wax?
- Unwanted hair is removed in and around the bikini or underwear line.
- What is a French Bikini Wax?
- A French Bikini wax takes is a hybrid between a full Brazilian and a regular Bikini wax, it leaves hair in the middle of your intimate area and does not remove hair from the back. It does remove hair that would be seen around the bikini line and the front.
- What is a full Brazilian Wax?
- A full Brazilian wax removes all unwanted hair from the front to the back.
- What is a European Wax?
- A European Wax is a full Brazilian wax that leaves a design in the front, common ones requested are a strip or a heart.
- Brazilian Waxing Aftercare
- After your Brazilian please ensure you avoid anything that will irritate the skin. This includes but is not limited to, touching or scratching the area, exfoliation, friction, sauna or steam rooms, exercise, and tight clothes. Use discretion depending upon how you are feeling, and please ensure you call us if you have any questions. To help reduce redness and soreness you can apply a cold cloth or take a cool shower, along with applying a skin soother such as Aloe Vera.
